Hello Readers! Sciencechick here, already on week four! How exciting!
First off thank you again for all the wonderful feedback! I have been so busy with school and work. Not to mention, my daughter's spelling lists and math homework. Sometimes, it can become a bit overwhelming...which is why I'd like to discuss a topic that has come up quite often recently: dropping a class. A great deal of people have asked about it. So, I'll try to satisfy your inquiries as best as I can.
I must warn you against making any hasty decisions.
Students that attend community colleges have the lives that demand their attention and time. It could be that he or she has a morgage or high car payment. In order to keep their lives out of "red" he or she may need to have a full time job. There are many students who, like myself, have a family. Single fathers, mothers, grandparents as parents, and the like, it is difficult to find time to fit higher learning into already compact lives. Why would anyone want to? The reward! A degree! The ability to know how to properly weld, write, and/or finding out what a parabola is anyway? Ha ha ha! That last one was to make you smile!
If something does come up out of your control, my advice to you is this: TALK TO SOMEONE! Talk to your professor! Talk to your academic advisor! Talk to the people in your life whom this might affect! Also, if this applies to you, talk to your financial aid advisor. Ask if you can possibly abstain from dropping a class. Create a plan for what to do if dropping a class is unavoidable. Set out your goals and put them on a tenitive timeline. These things will not only aid you in successful completion on an academic level; they will allow you to see yourself as a college graduate!
Till next time readers! Sciencechick is out!
